TRIPOD MUG
Questions4/1/2019 Process of the mug.
I started with a simple slab of clay and wrapping it around a plastic cup then cutting off the excess clay so it wouldn't lap over. One it slightly dryer to where it could stand on its owns, i slipped the cup out and pinched the bottom into three feet. After the i pushed out from to inside of the mug to round it up. i ended up cutting off the three foot stand and smoothing it out so it would be in the shape of a sphere and adding little half balls of clay and attaching them to the bottom instead. What style handle did you make? How did you make it? For the handle i rolled out a small slab of clay and cut it into a circle, the i cut a smaller circle into that and cut the whole thing in half and attached it to the side of the mug. What do you find successful? What might you change if you were to make it again? All in all i did like the design of my mug, nut if i could do it again i would smooth it out more. I would also try to make the handle bigger (more functional) and change the glaze colors. Define: Clay Slab A clay slab is a piece of smooth, flattened and rolled out clay.
